There are many reasons why you would consider using a VPS Server over a reseller or shared hosting account, let us talk you through why. In a conventional hosting account you are sharing resources with other websites on the same server node, now although every host will try to get the balance right and hopefully stop other sites affecting performance on the server this can only be done to a degree. With your OWN VPS you have a dedicated CPU Unit share on the server allowing you to fully utilise your own portion of CPU time and dedicated memory not used by any other application or website. If you intend on running a process intensive application or website then VPS is definitely for you, don’t let other sites performance affect the performance of your site. Another great use of a VPS is for a hosting company to be able to group resellers and end users on separate environments, or even to just split sites over multiple environments limiting disaster recovery to a minimum. As a VPS owner you will have FULL root access to your server as if it was a dedicated server of it’s own, you will also have FULL control over software and whatever control panel you wish to use. VPS licenses of software tend to me 50% or more cheaper than dedicated server licenses.
